PIC 4: COMMAND PERFORMANCE: The distinguished-looking gentleman with the top hat in the centre of this photograph is the Duke of Connaught during a visit to the Georgetown Munitions Factory. The son of Queen Victoria, the Duke is being given a VIP welcome by military chiefs and factory managers as he sees for himself how conscientiously the employees work and the enthusiasm with which they tackle their tasks of ensuring that the men on the battlefields are fully armed and protected against the lethal fire power of their enemies. An interesting landmark in the picture is the once-familiar chimney-stack towering over the assembled ranks of some of the workers and factory buildings.
