Our Gallery is divided into Albums, The Museum, The History of Johnstone, The Houston Family, Industry (two truly made the town: Textiles and the Machine Tool Companies), etc.
In the 19th and 20th centuries, Johnstone mills concentrated on machine tools for heavy industries like shipbuilding in the Clydeside.

Originally the site of a Cotton Mill, it later took on a life as a Paper Mill. Smith & McLaurin today are the Manufactures of Coated & Gummed Papers and Sealing Tapes
